The Single Most Important Step To Take (Right Now) That’ll Guarantee You Achieve All Your Goals And Faster Too

This is possibly the most important post I have written to date.

The importance of identifying and surrounding yourself with the right people.

People who will believe in you, encourage, support, and motivate you, and refuse to let you fail.

This is by far the surest way for any one of us to successfully achieve our goals.

“It’s the people who we decide to surround ourselves with that determines whether or not we’ll ever achieve our goals.”

Jim Rohn, who I consider one of my life mentors, said it best…

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

The reason The Wellness Bucket even exists today is because of the people I’m fortunate to have around me.

A supportive community that continues to invest their own time, energy, and effort in me and see to it that I succeed and achieve my goals.

People who believe in me, who keep me going, excited, and fired up.

Who remind me often of why I’m doing what I’m doing and all of the reasons why I will succeed.

There’s no better feeling than being surrounding by people who believe in you.

Who day after day after day, continue to support and encouragement you.

With a support system like that, it’s almost impossible to fail.

Even if I wanted to fail, they wouldn’t let me. πŸ™‚

Get Around People Who Believe In You

I’ve spent the last few weeks thinking about writing this post; planning and preparing for it, more than any other post I’ve written.

Because of how important the message of surrounding yourself with the right people is.

Because I believe that when you find, get around, and surround yourself with people who believe in you, in what you’re about, and in all you’re out to do and create, you can and will successfully achieve all of your goals.

Whether it’s weight loss, competing in your first marathon or Spartan race, starting a new career or business you’re passionate about, traveling more, or just doing more of what makes you happy…

It’s all 100% possible when you surround yourself with the right people.

My hope is that this post will serve as a call to action and road map for you on how and why it’s critical to success and overall health & happiness to surround yourself with people who believe in you.

Because the sooner you do, the sooner you’ll begin feeling, being, and living your absolute best.

What If The People You Surrounded Yourself With Refused To Let You Fail?

Think about that for a second.

How awesome would that be?

Where regardless of what obstacles and challenges came your way, regardless of how many crappy days you had and wanted to give up, you had people there for you – encouraging you, supporting you, and motivating you to continue on.

Telling you you’re awesome and reminding you of all the reasons why you CAN and WILL be successful.

Even when you stumble or aren’t sure how to get past a certain obstacle, they’re there for you, walking you through how to get past the obstacle and even if they can’t walk you through it themselves, they’re ready and willing to reach out to others they know who can and will help you.

I mean seriously… how awesome would that be?

I can tell you from personal experience that it’s an absolutely awesome feeling.

To know that others believe in you, care for you, are ready and willing to do everything and anything necessary to help you succeed.

I can also tell you it wasn’t always like that for me.

I didn’t always have this type of support, encouragement, and motivation in my life.

In fact, it was just the opposite for me.

What I did have was people who didn’t believe in me, telling me I wan’t smart enough or good enough.

That I didn’t have what it takes to be successful and that I wouldn’t get too far in life.

Without coming right out and saying it, they were pretty much telling me I was a loser and didn’t stand a chance at any kind of success in life.Β

This type of support and encouragement, or lack there of I should say, wasn’t cool.

To be honest, it flat out sucked and was bullshit.

I don’t think anyone deserves to be told such stories, let alone a 9 year old kid which is how old I was when I was fed these bullshit stories of not being good enough or smart enough to succeed.

These stories negatively affected all aspects of my life for years.

I’m talking 25+ years.

Everything from my career, business opportunities, relationships, money, all of it.

My confidence sucked and as far as I was concerned, I was a loser.

I was recently interviewed by the Live Your Legend team to share my story.

Mike-G

A story of being labelled “below average” to running my own wellness coaching business, hosting fit camps across the US, and creating a location independent situation for myself that allows me to travel and work from literally anywhere in the world.

I actually just got back from spending a month in Colombia and it was awesome!

So much for not being smart enough, good enough, and a loser.

Success Is The Best Form Of Revenge

They say (whoever they is) that success is the best form of revenge.

I’m not looking for revenge, I just didn’t appreciate how I was treated and what I was told as a kid.

Whether or not you read or watch my interview on Live Your legend, I want to take this opportunity to point out what changed it all for me.

How I went from believing I wasn’t smart enough or good enough.

Having no confidence in myself or in my abilities.

Working a 9-5 job that sucked the life out of me.

Getting demoted in my 9-5 job.

Trying my hand at entrepreneurship and losing $20K.

A failed marriage.

Failed friendships.

Fantasizing about all I wanted to do and create but never believing in myself enough to try.

The Single Most Important Factor That Changed It All For Me Was Community

The people I decided to surround myself with.

It blows me away every time I think about how powerful it is to have someone belief in you, even when you’re struggling to believe in yourself as I was.

Someone to tell you you’re awesome.

That you can do it.

That you will do it.

That they believe it you.

There is nothing more empowering than being surrounded by people who believe in you.

Who’ll look you in the eyes and tell you to your face that they believe in you and that there’s no fucking way you’re going to fail because they will not allow it.

They won’t allow you to not believe in yourself, to not give it your all, and be the person who you were born to be.

It’s wild thinking about the odds we’re able to overcome, that often times seem insurmountable, yet we’re able to overcome them because of the people we have in our corner who believe in us.

To see an example of this, watch the video below.

There was no way Buster Douglas should have won this boxing match after taken the beating he did from Mike Tyson.

The fight might as well have been over, Mike Tyson was clearly the better, stronger, more aggressive fighter.

Buster Douglas lost his mom just two days before the fight.

Before she died, she told him he would win that fight, that she believed in him.

She believed in him.

I think it’s safe to say that anyone watching the fight on that historical night lost all belief in Buster Douglas, that he had no chance of winning.

The fight should have been over, but it wasn’t.

Mike Tyson should have won that fight, but he didn’t.

No one believed in Buster Douglas, but his mother did.

She Believed In Him, That He Would Win That Fight, And He Did

Overcoming the most insurmountable odds possible.

The odds of Buster Douglas winning the fight that night were 42-1.

He was given a 1 in 42 chance of winning the fight.

That’s all he would need, that’s all any one of us needs to overcome our own insurmountable odds.

That one person who believes in us, more than we believe in ourselves at times.

That one chance, that one belief his mom instilled in him, helped Buster Douglas become a champion that night.

We’re all ready to become champions and will be when we surround ourselves with people who believe in us, who are ready and willing to support, encouragement, and motivation us in every way possible.

What Could And Would You Do If Others Believed In You This Same Way?

What changes could you make in your life?

What goals could you achieve?

What could be possible if you had the support of people who refused to let you fail?

It’s crazy to think about right?

What’s even crazier and exciting to think about is that it IS possible to have that.

I’ve spent the past two years surrounding myself with people who believe in me and continue to be blown away by the results, successes, and benefits that has come as a result of doing so.

The people from Live Your Legend and Rock Your Purpose Live are these people for me.

There is no one who’s taught me more about the power of believing in myself than my good friends from Rock Your Purpose Live Leah Hynes and Nazrin Murphie.

It’s because of the belief, the special belief that Leah instilled in me over two years ago now that has literally changed my life.

I don’t mean to make it sound so dramatic, but it’s the truth.

Her Belief In Me When I Didn’t Believe In Myself Changed Everything For Me

Her constant support and encouragement when I was scared and playing small.

Her motivation and insight into why I was more than just average – that I was more than good enough and smart enough to be successful.

The belief that Leah had in me and instilled in me is what changed it all for me.

As if that’s not awesome enough… I continue to get even more encourage and support from the rest of the RYPL (Rock Your Purpose Live) community.

Leah and Nazrin are often told how crazy they are for focusing on building their community slowly, with intention, and with the right people inside it, people who will believe and support each other.

I actually don’t think they’re crazy at all (OK – maybe a little, but in a good way πŸ™‚ )

It’s this slow methodical community building approach they’ve committed to that creates the kind of community that believes in each other and refuses to let each other fail.

Imagine What Would Be Possible If You Were Part Of Such A Connected Community?

If you were connected to a group of like-minded, passionate people who believed in you?

If you got access to a blueprint for creating hyper-engaged connection within a community?

If you were supported, encouraged, and motivated to believe in yourself and take action?

The results would be nothing short of awesome as they’ve been for me.

We’re talking constant support through the inevitable roadblocks you’ll confront on your way to creating and achieving all it is you want for yourself.Β

Getting on track, staying on track, and never giving up on your goals, because no one will let you give up, remember?

Surrounded by others who have your back, believe in you, know your potential and gifts, and even go out of their way to find others to help you achieve your goals.

most-business-2

Leah and Naz know first-hand (as do I) the power of being surrounded by these kinds of awesome people.

You no longer need to feel or be alone on your way to achieving your goals.

There are mass numbers of people all over the world, who are all part of the RYPL Community, ready and willing to help you create all it is you want.

It doesn’t matter where you live, what you do, how old you are, what career you’re in – none of that matters.

You matter, we matter – and that’s all that matters.

The truth is you’re awesome and deserve to be told that.

You deserve to have that feeling of others believing in you… reminding you of all the reasons why you CAN and WILL achieve your goals.

You deserve the support from a community who will support, encourage, and motivate you every step of the way.

People who are ready and willing to step in and help with whatever challenges come your way.

Who if they can’t help, will collaborate with others on your behalf to find you the help and support you need to get past whatever obstacle it may be.

Surrounded Yourself With People Who Refuse To Let You Fail

I think you’re awesome and deserve all this and more and if anyone thinks differently or disagrees, send them my way πŸ™‚ I’d like to have a conversation with them.

There’s lots of groups out there that you can become a part of.

There’s many good ones too, it’s just a matter of finding them.

While I don’t know of them all (sorry, I wish I did) I do know of two that have helped me tremendously and have changed me and my life for the better.

I mentioned them both earlier and I’ll mention them here again: Live Your Legend and RYPL (Rock Your Purpose Live)

If you’re not already a part of both of these communities, I definitely think you should be.

It’s free to join both of these communities and 95% of all the material they put out weekly is free.

Take a Stand For Yourself

Make the decision and commitment to yourself right now, that you will find and surround yourself with people who believe in you (even if you don’t believe in yourself), support, encourage, and motivate you to creating all it is you want.

A group of people that will refuse to let you fail.

Don’t waste it around people who don’t believe in you or support you.

There is greatness within you.

I believe that and I believe in you.

I’m here to support you in any way I can.

Don’t hesitate toΒ reach out to meΒ either with questions or concerns you may have.

The best time to have started may have been yesterday… but the next best time is right now!

You’re awesome and I cannot wait to see all you do any create for yourself once you have the right people in your corner.

Cheers!
Mike

  • Awesome post Mike! I can totally respect how important this message is to get out to people. And I 150% Agree with you. Brilliant, and great stuff. Keep on doing what you do!

    • Thanks Dorene! Whether you know it or not, you ARE one of those awesome people I mentioned surrounding myself with that have made a huge difference and impact in my life – I’m grateful, big time! Thanks for your words as well… you’re awesome πŸ™‚ Cheers!

    • Thanks Troy – I appreciate it! The amount of help and support you have provided me with and continue to provide me with is amazing man. You’re awesome – there wouldn’t be a Wellness Bucket community without you… Cheers!

  • Inspired. Truly inspired, Mike.

Reminds me my Facebook feed has been overrun with negative vibe merchants; LYL content practically never shows up. Even my local group, which ditched MightyBell for a FB group is pretty much invisible. Social media can be poisonous.

I still have the 15 minute workout taped to my front door. I don’t do it, but it’s always there. And the emails on Friday only seem to get a skim at best. The real world takes its toll a piece at a time. It takes a conscious effort to overcome.

Thanks for being a positive vibe merchant. It’s appreciated.

    • Hey Brian – awesome to hear from you man… thanks for your message and kind words as always, I appreciate it. Social media can definitely be poisonous if we let it. I decided some time ago that I would no longer read, open, or associate with anything or anyone negative. Aside from it being no fun, it’s detrimental to our health… both physically AND mentally – not good. That’s why and where exercise can definitely help us. When we’re in motion (exercising, running, walking, swimming, hiking, whatever) it helps to change our emotion (what and how we think and feel). I LOVE that you still have the 15 minute workout taped to your front door… Nice! πŸ™‚ You’re not doing it (yet), but I’m confident you will. Let me know if and how I can help and I will. That’s a promise. Thanks for being here and being your honest self – you’re awesome and I appreciate it. Cheers man!

      • I’ve had a taste of the bodies in motion stay in motion clarity thing. 2-3 days a week, I put 7-8 miles on the MTB before work and I walk a mile at lunch every day. Neither locale is particularly scenic nor special. In fact, I work in a pretty run-down part of town. Much as that can be depressing, I focus on my 2016 3 words: intent, action, mindful (iam). And it feels pretty good.

Methinks it’s time to purge the negative and double-down on the positive. Appreciate the charge and offer to help. At the risk of sounding like the total procrastinator I am, let me get a few things sorted and get back to you on that one, Coach. πŸ˜‰

        Keep rockin’.

        • Awesome man – love the fact you walk a mile every day at lunch – may not sound like much but it’s these small daily habits that ultimately add up to make the greatest difference for us.In addition, the fact that neither locale is particularly scenic nor special as you put it yet you STILL get it done is awesome. Loving your 3 words for 2016… especially “action”… yes sir! I support your decision to double-down on positive 100%. I’m here man, not going anywhere… ready and willing to help in any way I can – just say the word πŸ™‚ Cheers!
