More With Mike Podcast: How To Think Your Way To A Healthy Lifestyle & Body

One of my favorite books is Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

The whole idea of the book is to think your way to what you want.

I’m considering writing a book myself called, Think & Lose Weight.

I’m kidding of course, but I’m kind of not.

Writing a book is on my bucket list you know. 🙂

Episode #7 How To Think Your Way To A Healthy Lifestyle & Body

I’m continuous blown away, especially over the last six months, by the results my clients are achieving.

Not because of anything amazing I’m doing either, but more so because of how just making a small shift in mindset, how and what they think, brings with it incredible results.

It’s absolutely crazy and mind boggling to me – in a good way that is.

A Few Case Studies

Case Study #1

A recent client of mine had the belief that he was the “big kid“.

That’s what his family thought of him, that’s who he was, and he was never able to lose more than 5-6 pounds before gaining it all back.

We changed his thinking from being the “big kid” to a person who is committed to himself, his health, and his weight loss goals.

He was no longer the “big kid“. He was a person on a mission to lose weight.

The result… he lost 24 pounds in 30 days.

I’m still blown away by his story and results.

Case Study #2

I had another client who believed she couldn’t lose weight.

That she was just “big boned” and “curvy“.

That’s who she believed she was.

She also believed that because her job kept her really busy, she wouldn’t be able to dedicate the necessary time and energy to lose weight which was her reason for past failures.

We stopped changed her thinking that she was “big boned” and “curvy“.

Instead, her focus, our focus, our only focus, became the plan we had created for her to follow for 30 days… “The Process” as I like to call it.

Her mindset became, “I am committed to following the process for 30 days and nothing will get in the way of that.

Her job didn’t get any easier, in fact, I think she got busier during the 30 days of us working together and she still managed to make it happen and stick to her daily fitness and nutrition commitments.

The result… she lost 15 pounds in 30 days.

Case Study #3

This case study involves two different people in two different countries.

One of them is a woman from Australia who’s in her mid 60’s.

The other a male from Kenya who’s in his 20’s.

Both from different countries, both with the goal of losing weight.

My client from Australia had several medical conditions she had to overcome and had every reason to believe she wouldn’t successfully lose weight.

Of course the belief we create for her was that she could and would lose weight… and she did!

The result… over 20 pounds of body fat lost.

My other client from Kenya had limited resources as far as exercise equipment and a very different dietary pattern.

Again, he had many reasons to believe he couldn’t be successful because of what he didn’t have access to although we didn’t focus on what he didn’t have and couldn’t do.

We focused instead on what he did have and what we could do and committed all of our time, energy, and effort there.

The result… over 50 pounds of body fat lost in 3 months.

Who Will You Be?

We are who we believe ourselves to be.

If you believe you are the big kid, then that’s who you’ll always be.

If you believe you are big boned, then you’ll always be big boned.

If you believe you’re a person who’s always late, then you’ll always be late.

If you believe you can’t, than you won’t.

If you believe you can, then you will.

“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.”

The Coma Principle

If you woke up tomorrow from a coma, and had no idea who you were or what your life was like before going into a coma, and you were told you use to be an Olympic athlete, how you do you think you would act and carry yourself?

What kind of standards would you hold yourself to if that’s who you believed you were before going into a coma and not remembering anything?

Do you think you would act and carry yourself differently than if you were told you were a cook, school principle, or a bartender? (Not that there’s anything wrong with any of these professions of course).

Do you think your work ethic and commitment to your health and conditioning would be different?

We’re programmed to remain congruent to who we believe ourselves to be.

That can be a good thing or bad thing depending on who we believe ourselves to be.

The awesome news is that we get to decide who we believe ourselves to be.

I know it isn’t always easy to believe we’re someone other than who we’ve been conditioned to believing we are.

Yes it takes work, yes it takes effort, but it’s possible, and so damn worth it.

It’s worth it because you’re worth it.

The results that come and the success that happen when that shift in mindset, who we believe we are, is made, is incredible. It is so damn incredible – it’s amazing.

3 Statements To Create Powerful Thinking

Going forward, use the three statements below daily to begin creating a more powerful, positive, and winning mindset.

Because when you do, your thinking (how and what you think and believe) will change.

Who you believe you are will change.

And when that happens, your actions will change and when your actions change, so will your results.

Statement #1 – I WILL do (fill in your goal here)!

No more “I want” or “I should” or “I need to“.

Going forward, when you talk about your health and fitness goals, phrase it as you WILL do it.

Statement #2 – I do what I say I will do!

Become a person who does what they say they will do.

Stick to your commitments… exercise when you say you’ll exercise, eat what you say you will eat, drink the water you commit to drinking.

When you become a person who does what they say they will do, others will them come to expect nothing less of you, including yourself.

Statement #3 – Nothing will stop me!

There will no longer be any excuses, obstacles, or challenges that come up that you will not be prepared for and ready to overcome.

Once you commitment to making your health and fitness goals happen, there is nothing that can and will stop you… nothing.

Once you begin to say and believe, “I WILL do X, I am a person who does what they say they will do, nothing will stop me….”

You’ll be well on your way to thinking yourself to a healthy lifestyle and body.

You’re awesome!
