More With Mike Podcast (Beta) – Today We’re Talking Discipline & How To Create More Of It In Order To Achieve More

Hey guys!

Welcome to the very first episode of the More With Mike Podcast.

The reason I created it has nothing to do with me and everything to do with you.

You’re awesome, I believe that, and I believe in you, and that is why I created the More With Mike Podcast.

Why The Podcast?

Aside from “why not“, the reason I’m giving this podcast a go is simple…

To encourage, support, and motivate you to do more, feel more, and ultimately be more, for yourself and those around you.

It’s my commitment to you, to do all I can to help you feel and be your best in all you do.

Let’s get this party started already!

Episode #1 – Discipline

I’m already breaking the rules of podcasting which suggests using your first episode to tell your listeners why you created the podcast, what it’s all about, and what they can expect.

I don’t like rules and the only rule we follow here at The Wellness Bucket is, there are no rules.

I know, talking about discipline and breaking the rules is a bit of an oxymoron.

The only rules we follow here are the one we make, the ones that are important to us and our goals.

So with that said, today we’re talking Discipline.

And no, not discipline as in punishment for not following the rules – no rules here remember?

I’m talking about discipline as remaining focused and staying the course when it comes to achieving the goals we’ve set out to achieve this year.

If you haven’t set goals for yourself yet this year, what are you waiting for?

Do it now, seriously.

It’s that important, you’re that important.

Whether you think so or not, I think so. I think you’re important, I think you’re awesome, and I also think you’re capable of creating and achieving all it is you want.

Just write down your goals already will you? OK good, thanks! 🙂

Once they’re written down, now what?

Good question.

Next comes making a plan to how you’re going to achieve those goals.

A plan that describes in detail on how you intend to get from point A to point B.

For example, if your goal is to lose weight… how are you going to get there?

What’s your plan to lose weight?

What foods will you eat? What exercises will you do? How often?

This is your plan.

If you don’t have a plan for each of your goals, create one..  otherwise how will you know which direction to head in or what to do?

OK, so now you have your goals written down, a plan created for each… now what?

Oh yeah – now it’s all about following through and executing the plan, consistently everyday.

Enter Discipline

Discipline is what helps us get past our excuses as to why we didn’t “get it done“. Why we didn’t follow through on our plan. Why two weeks into a new year, all resolutions are out the window.

Discipline requires FOCUS!

FOCUS meaning…. Follow One Course Until Success.

That one course is your plan.

Follow the plan you have created for yourself to get you to your goals.

If we don’t follow through on the plan, remain focused and discipline, how on earth can we expect to achieve our goals? To lose the weight, start that new business, get rid of debt?

The answer is you can’t.

Discipline is a must on your way to achieving the goals you’ve set for ourselves this year.

If you’ve committed to getting up early in the morning to exercise because that’s part of your plan to lose weight, get up in the morning and get it done.

Regardless if you’re tired, went to bed late, it’s cold out – no excuses, get up and get it done.

That’s discipline.

I know it’s easier said than done but we’re not after easy.

Nothing grows, nothing happens or develops in the world of easy.

3 Ways To Remain Disciplined

1) Have A Plan

Without a plan, how do you know what to focus on, what to do and be disciplined with on a daily basis to achieve your goals?

I want to lose weight” is not a plan, that’s your goal.

Your plan is, how are going to get there?

2) Know Your Why

Why do you even want to lose weight?

I mean, it’s a lot of work.

It requires time, effort, commitment, hard work, sacrifice.

It’s not a walk in the park and it’s not going to be an easy ride, I can assure you of that.

Not just weight loss either but any goal worth striving and stretching yourself for; a new business, new relationship, eliminating debt, traveling, writing a book, running a marathon.

None of these are easy and happen overnight.

They’re all possible yes, with a plan in place and lots and lots of discipline.

3) Accountability

The best form of accountability for me continues to be The Wellness Bucket.

Whenever I tell you guys I’m going to do something, I feel I’m on the hook and obligated to get it done because I told you guys I would.

I feel committed and accountable to doing what I tell others I will do.

This is the power of accountability.

Find or create this accountability with your goals, whether it’s a running group, Weight Watchers, Toastmasters, a mastermind or entrepreneur group you join or start yourself.

Creating accountability for yourself is one of the best ways to remain disciplined.

Simple Truth

If your goals are important to you, you’ll find a way to make it (your plan) happen.

If your goals are really not that important to you, you’ll find (allow) excuses.

I think you’re awesome and way better than you probably think you are and I.

That’s why I’m here, that’s why I’ve created this More With Mike Podcast, and that’s why I’ll keep creating whatever I need to create to make sure you’re not being held down by excuses keeping you from being and feeling your absolute best.

You’re awesome and I’m so damn happy and excited you’re here!

Cheers to you and to an incredible year ahead…

Mike
