Create Your Own Wellness Retreat In The Comfort Of Your Own Home.

Create your very own peaceful oasis without ever leaving home and if that isn’t enough to get you excited, your entire wellness retreat will cost you as much or as little as you choose.

I love mini vacations or as I call them, retreats.

Deciding where to go, when to go, what to do. I love everything about planning them, it’s exciting to me. Getting away for a few days and detaching from everyday life.

The only thing I don’t like about them is that these little mini retreats can get expensive very quickly depending on where I go, when I go, what I decide to do, and where I decide to eat. When this happens, the whole purpose of the retreat, to get away and relax and not worry about anything is compromised as I begin to think about how much I’m spending.

Happiness Doesn’t Have To Be Expensive

When it comes to Wellness and Spa Retreats that are already prearranged for you, these get even more outrageously expensive when you take into consideration all the pampering that goes on. Everything from the room, the massages, the healthy foods that are served, the dinners, all worth it of course, just expensive.  Because they are so expensive, I rarely ever take advantage of these great retreats and my guess is that you may be feeling the same way or in the same boat as me.

I don’t like the fact that a weekend of wellness, pampering, relaxation, and peacefulness is expensive and therefore out of reach for many of us, including me, because of cost. It’s for this reason that I have created a wellness retreat that you can take full advantage of from your own home. Get all the perks and benefits of a wellness retreat for a fraction of the cost and without ever having to leave the house.

“Nothing Can Bring You Peace But Yourself.”

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson ~

We all work hard, we all probably think way more than we should, we all do our best with what we have, we give our all to what we’re involved with. Whether it’s a job, a relationship, a business, a sports team, a musical band, whether we’re parents, school teachers, volunteers, we do our best, we give it our all, we work hard. It’s not only fair but necessary that we also take time for ourselves to unwind, to relax, to rejuvenate, and take care of ourselves.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF

You’re awesome and there is no doubt you could definitely use a wellness retreat without having to take out a small loan in order to experience one.

Here’s a two day at home wellness retreat that I created for you. Two whole days focused on cleansing both your body, mind, and spirit. Feel free to complete either just day one or day two of the wellness retreat, perhaps during the weekend or anytime you have a few days free from work and all other responsibilities. I highly recommend completing both days. You’re guaranteed to feel refreshed and renewed afterwards.

Take care of yourself, be good to yourself, pamper yourself, because you’re awesome and deserving.

WEEKEND WELLNESS RETREAT

DAY ONE

1. Drink Green Tea Upon Waking Up

Any green tea from your local grocery store will do the trick. Have one cup. Benefits of drinking green tea include improved brain function and physical performance, kills bacteria which lowers risk of infections, helps lower your weight, and improves body fat burning.

2. Meditate For 20 Minutes

No special or specific mediation style required. Sit in silence in a comfortable position with your eyes closed (see example here) and focus just on your breathing, clearing your mind, and not thinking about anything other than your breathing.

3. Take A 60 Minute Walk

Go for a walk around your neighborhood, or the park, or beach. Whatever is most convenient for you. Benefits of walking includes reduced stress, boosts sex drive (bonus), reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, and increased blood circulation.

4. Stretch

Perform each of the following stretches for 1 minute each:

Stretch #1

Stretch #2

Stretch #3

Stretch #4

5. Eat A Small Bowl Filled With Berries

All berries are acceptable (blueberries, strawberries, cranberries, boysenberries). Berries are high in antioxidants and provide us many great benefits. They keep you mentally sharp, boost heart health, control weight, and lower blood pressure.

6. Write

Spend an hour thinking about what makes you happy, what you would like to do in the next 12 months. Great time to start a journal. You can also use this time to create your very own bucket list if you haven’t done so already.

7. Take A Nap

Whether it’s in bed, on you sofa, in a hammock, on the beach, laying on a blanket at the park, wherever it may be, relax, just relax… your body and your mind. Take a 30-60 minute nap.

8. Read

Spend an hour reading . If you do not have any books you are currently reading, here are a few suggestions:

How To Win Friends & Influence People – Dale Carnegie

Everything That Remains – Joshua Fields Millburn & Ryan Nicodemus

The Travelers Gift – Andy Andrews

(FYI – these are not affiliate links and I do not make any money if you decide to purchase these book. I’ve included the links here strictly for convenience purposes if you so chose to purchase any of them)

9. Talk A 30 Minute Walk In The Evening

Go for a walk around your neighborhood, or at a park, or beach. Whatever is most convenient for you.

10. Eat A Second Small Bowl Filled With Berries

All berries are acceptable (blueberries, strawberries, cranberries, boysenberries).

11. Take A Hot Bath

Soak up in a hot bath for 30 minutes. Feel free to add some Epsom salts too. If you have access to a Jacuzzi, feel free to use that as well.

12. Have your Favorite Dinner

Whether you cook it, go out to dinner, or get take out, eat your favorite meal. The only stipulation is that you eat half of the amount you would normally eat. Can’t have you feeling stuffed and uncomfortable. This is a wellness weekend remember?

A one day wellness retreat is wonderful and exhilarating although if you have the time and are up for it, here’s a second day you can add to your weekend wellness retreat.

WEEKEND WELLNESS RETREAT

DAY TWO

1. Drink Green Tea Upon Waking Up

Any green tea from your local grocery store will do the trick.

2. Complete A Brief Workout

Complete a lite resistance training workout using just your own body weight, no equipment necessary. If you have 5 home exercises that are your favorite, complete those otherwise, complete my 5-IN-5 Workout Routine. Whether you use your own exercises or the 5-IN-5 routine, it should take you no longer than 20 minutes.

3. Take A Cold Shower

Take a cold shower, yes, a COLD shower and make sure to be in there for at least 7 minutes. Cold showers strengthen immunity, improves blood circulations, alleviates depression, keeps skin and hair healthy, and increases energy and well being.

4. Eat A Small Bowl Filled With Berries

All berries are acceptable (blueberries, strawberries, cranberries, boysenberries). Berries are high in antioxidants and provide us many great benefits. They keep you mentally sharp, boost heart health, control weight, and lower blood pressure.

Two full days of wellness and relaxation from the comfort of your own home, how cool is that? Here are some additional suggestions that I highly recommend to fully maximize your at home wellness retreat. Although these are not required, I assure you they will add a greater sense of wellness and peace of mind if you do chose to add these.

1. Turn off your mobile phone completely. Detach from the world and all of life’s distractions.

2. Avoid all TV, internet, video games, magazines. Focus on peace of mind.

3. Avoid drinking alcohol. Drink 80 ounces of water each day.

Relax The Mind. Renew The Body. Revive The Soul.

I know that sometimes giving yourself two full days to focus on just you and your wellness isn’t possible, especially for you amazing parents out there giving selflessly of yourselves to raise your wonderful children. In these cases, I suggest picking a few from the list and making it your goal to complete them. Do it for you, for yourself, because you’re important and awesome too. Every chance you get, even if it’s not many, take care of you.

What are some of the things you do at home to pamper yourself and create your own wellness retreat? Which day or wellness activity will you complete? Please share your thoughts and experiences with me in the comments below.
