5 Ways Your Weight Loss Will Benefit Others

If you think youโ€™re the only one who will benefit from losing weight, think again.

Shedding some extra pounds will benefit you directly and those around you indirectly.

Everyone from family and friends to neighbors and co-workers will benefit.

Your weight loss will not only motivate you, but other as well to do more for themselves.

So, the next time you’re ready to call it quits on your weight loss goal, here’s a few reasons why you may want to reconsider and stay the course:

1. Inspire Others

When others hear about your commitment to lose weight and see the progress you’ve made, it will inspire them to take action as well if they too are wanting to lose weight. You’ll have them thinking “if they can do it, I can do it too“.

Setting out to lose weight can be scary, intimidating, and overwhelming.

It can get lonely too.

When others see you committed to exercising and eating right, they no longer feel like they’re alone on their weight loss journey. They begin to feel like they have you to go through it with and whether you know it or not, your actions are motivating and encouraging them to continue.

“As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”

~ Marianne Williamson

2. Set An Example

Whether it’s your intention or not to influence others with your weight loss, it’s going to happen.

When you set out to lose weight, you’re conveying the message that health is important.

You begin setting an example for others to follow. Whether it’s your children, spouse, family members or friends.

Your commitment to your health and daily health habits will influence others to commit to their own health and create their own health habits. The decisions and choices you make about what and how you eat will set an example for others to follow who are also on the path to losing weight.

3. Serve More

When you lose weight, you inevitably have lots more energy at your disposal to use in a series of different ways, including the ability to help and serve others more often.

You’ll find yourself with more energy to contribute.

Whether it’s coming up with more ideas at work, volunteering your time and services at local charity events, or having enough left over energy at the end of the day to spend playing with your kids or having dinner with friends.

4. Provide Guidance

You won’t be the only one who notices your weight loss.

It will indicate to others that you’ve figured it out – how to successfully lose weight. Whatever it is you’re doing, it’s working and they are going to want to know about it.

This will provide you the opportunity to help others by sharing what you did to lose weight. They’ll be able to take the information you provide them with, that they’re confident works because it worked for you, and use it to their benefit to lose weight as well.

5. Live Longer

Moderate obesity can trim as much as 3 years off of life expectancy while severe obesity can shorten a person’s life by 10 years.

When you lose weight, you increase your life expectancy and probability of being around for a longer period of time.

That means more time to spend with family and friends. To share in many more special moments such as birthday’s and anniversaries with those closest to you.

It’s More Than Just Health

Everyone who is a part of this community, Wellness Leaders, knows that it’s about so much more than just losing weight, being fit, and eating healthy.

It’s about feeling and looking our best so that we can be at our best in all that we do.

It’s about leading lives that are happy, meaningful, and worth living.

It’s about believing in ourselves and in all we are capable of achieving, knowing all along that our actions, decisions, and choices will fuel and inspire the actions and choices of others – creating a wellness ripple that will change our lives, the lives of others, and the world we live in forever.

You’re awesome – don’t ever forget that.

Cheers!

  • Yep. All these things are total truths. I love the whole idea that if you want your world to be a better place and really help the people around you, do it by how you live your life. That’s the best way to inspire and teach others. Living healthfully also plays such a key role in our own satisfaction and joy. When we go out into the world feeling centered and energized we are bound to do more good than we ever imagined possible. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you for this important message!
